A private dhow across the archipelago
A traditional sailing dhow between Benguerra and Bazaruto islands, timed to the tide so lunch is served on a sandbank that disappears again by afternoon.

A restored wilderness in Gorongosa, and an island archipelago where the safari continues underwater.
A restored wilderness in Gorongosa, and an island archipelago where the safari continues underwater. Here is Mozambique, arranged privately — most often as the island half of a safari that begins in South Africa's Kruger.
What an advisor can open that an algorithm cannot. Each of these is staged on your terms — the access, the timing, the people.

From Vilanculos to your island in minutes, over the turquoise channels of the marine park, instead of the boat crossing.

July to October, with the best odds in August and September, from a small boat with a marine guide and no other vessel crowding the pod.

Game drives and walks from Muzimu, the park's flagship camp, and time with the conservation teams who brought the lions and painted wolves back.

Eight residences on 300 hectares of forest, dune and beach at Kisawa on Benguerra Island — a stretch of coast with almost no one else on it.
Not a package — a starting point. Each is a journey we have designed and refined; your advisor reshapes it for the version only you would recognise.
Each a starting point — our advisors weave them into a single, seamless journey.
It is two experiences in one country: big game in Gorongosa, a park in the middle of one of Africa's great wildlife recoveries, and an island safari in the Bazaruto Archipelago — dhows, reefs, humpback whales and the region's last dugongs. Most travelers pair the islands with a Big Five safari in South Africa's Kruger.
The areas we design for — the Bazaruto Archipelago and Gorongosa National Park — are well-established luxury destinations. The US State Department rates Mozambique Level 2 ("exercise increased caution") and advises against all travel to Cabo Delgado province in the far north, which includes the Quirimbas islands; we do not currently route clients there. Your advisor reviews the latest advisories before you travel.
Three or four nights in the Sabi Sand or Greater Kruger, a light-aircraft flight to Vilanculos, then a helicopter or boat transfer to Benguerra or Bazaruto island for five to seven nights.
May to October, the dry season, for calm seas and clear water. Come in August or September for humpback whales; Gorongosa's flagship camp opens from mid-March to December.
Private island and safari stays start from around US$1,000 per person per night and rise with the property, the season and private transfers such as helicopters. Your advisor prices the route around your exact dates and camps.
Gorongosa National Park is a wildlife comeback you can watch. When research began in 2012 there were thought to be 30–40 lions; by 2019 at least 146 had been documented, alongside roughly 800 elephants. Painted wolves returned in 2018 and leopards from 2020. Game drives and walks run from Muzimu, the flagship camp of six tents on the Mussicadzi River, with time spent alongside the conservation teams who brought the lions and painted wolves back.
Benguerra Island holds the most private stays in the Bazaruto Archipelago: &Beyond Benguerra Island, with ten casinhas, two cabanas and a three-bedroom villa; Kisawa Sanctuary, with eight residences on 300 hectares of forest, dune and beach; and Azura Benguerra. Anantara Bazaruto, on the main island, has the most facilities. The archipelago has been a national park since 1971 and has been managed by African Parks since 2017.
Neither is guaranteed in the Bazaruto Archipelago. Whale sharks gather around Bazaruto from about October to April, but they are residents rather than migrants, so no month promises them. Bazaruto also holds the last viable dugong population on Africa's east coast, an estimated 250–350 animals listed as Critically Endangered since 2022. A sighting is a privilege, never a promise, and it is always made from a respectful distance.
In the Bazaruto Archipelago, a traditional sailing dhow is arranged privately between Benguerra and Bazaruto islands, timed to the tide so lunch is served on a sandbank that disappears again by afternoon. It pairs naturally with arriving by helicopter from Vilanculos, which reaches your island in minutes over the turquoise channels of the marine park instead of the boat crossing.
The light-aircraft flight from the Kruger region (Skukuza or Kruger Mpumalanga International) to Vilanculos requires soft bags and a strict weight allowance per person. The exact limit varies by operator, so your advisor confirms it for each leg. From Vilanculos, a helicopter or boat completes the last few kilometres to your island in the Bazaruto Archipelago.
Every journey here is a starting point a private advisor reshapes entirely around you — your pace, your people, the Mozambique only you would recognise.
