How to do it well

- Book the finest luxury hotels in Cernobbio or Tremezzo for late May or early June, when gardens peak and summer crowds have not yet arrived — lead time is eight to ten months for preferred lake-view suites.
- Reserve your private crewed launch at least three months ahead; captains who speak English and know the lake well are limited, especially on weekends in July and August.
- The Bellagio ferry from Varenna runs year-round but the short-hop triangular service connecting Bellagio, Menaggio and Cadenabbia is the one worth timing — it runs every thirty minutes in high season and is a journey in itself.
- If the group includes teenagers, add a half-day with a local climbing guide on the trails above Lecco; book this through us at least six weeks out, as certified bilingual guides require advance scheduling.
