The days are short and crystalline in December and January, the streets quieter than in fashion weeks, the tables at Cracco and Il Luogo di Aimo e Nadia suddenly more accessible. Whether to time the visit around a specific La Scala premiere or to book flexibly within the season
The main season runs from the traditional opening on 7 December — the feast of Sant'Ambrogio, Milan's patron — through July, with the most sought-after productions falling in December and January. Securing a box for the opening-night gala requires a minimum of nine to twelve months of lead time and contacts that go beyond the public ticket office. Booking within the broader winter season, say late January or February, trades the prestige of opening night for greater flexibility, better hotel availability, and the same quality of production. We advise clients to tell us their calendar first and let us match the best available programme to it.
How to do it well
