Every December, Miami fills twice: first for Art Basel Miami Beach and the art week around it, then for the Christmas and New Year fortnight. It is also the month our advisors are asked most often for something larger than a suite — a residence where a family, a group of collectors or three generations can stay together. This duplex penthouse in Brickell is the one we hold for those requests: six bedrooms, seven bathrooms and a double-height living room glazed on three sides over Biscayne Bay.

Where is the penthouse, and what is it like?

It sits at the top of a residential tower in Brickell, Miami's financial district on the mainland, and faces south-east over Biscayne Bay towards the causeway to Key Biscayne. The two levels are joined by a floating glass staircase; the main salon rises through both of them, with stone-clad columns and floor-to-ceiling glass, and an upper-level lounge looks down into it.

The finishes are stone, glass and dark timber throughout, and the terraces run along the bay side of the apartment, so most of the rooms — the primary bath included — open towards the water.

How many bedrooms does it have?

Six bedrooms and seven bathrooms across the two levels. The primary suite has a glass-walled bath with a freestanding tub at the window and its own dressing room; the guest bedrooms are spread over both floors, several of them facing the bay.

Beyond the bedrooms there is a dining room with a long table and a fireplace set into a book-matched stone wall, a kitchen with a stone island that seats four, a second sitting room for films, and the upper-level lounge — enough separate places for a group to spend a December evening without everyone being in one room.

Why stay in Brickell for Art Basel Miami Beach?

Art Basel Miami Beach 2026 runs from Friday 4 to Sunday 6 December, 11am to 6pm, at the Miami Beach Convention Center, after two invitation-only VIP preview days on Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3 December. According to Art Basel, this edition brings 272 exhibitors from more than 40 countries and territories.

The fair is on Miami Beach; Brickell is on the mainland, across Biscayne Bay. South Beach puts you closest to the Convention Center. Brickell gives you a residence instead of a room: space to host a dinner after the preview, a table for a working breakfast, and the bay between you and the busiest part of the week. When the art week is the reason for the trip, our advisors plan the fair days, the dinners and the transfers around it — see the culinary and art insider's Miami.

Can I stay over Christmas and New Year?

Yes, and the second half of December is the other peak. Hanukkah 2026 begins at sundown on Friday 4 December — the same weekend as the fair's public days — and the Christmas and New Year fortnight follows. For a family gathering the penthouse works as a house: the dining room seats everyone together, the kitchen has room for a chef to cook for the whole group, and the terraces are where December breakfasts happen.

If you are weighing a city residence against a villa or a chalet for the holidays, our guide to booking a villa or chalet for Christmas and New Year explains how the peak window fills, and where to spend New Year compares the options. A day on the water is easy to add — see Miami by private yacht.

What does the building offer?

Residents share a rooftop pool over the bay, a pool deck with cabanas, a fitness centre, a residents' lounge and a children's playroom — useful when a family stay runs across the whole holiday fortnight.
