A sense of the rhythm

Whether to base in Positano or spread the nights between Ravello and the coast below
Positano places you inside the postcard — steps from the beach boats, the fishing lanes and the best morning light — but Ravello offers elevation, quiet and a completely different relationship with the landscape. Splitting your nights between both is often the right answer: two or three evenings above the water in Ravello, then the final nights down in Positano as the trip opens toward the sea. We map the sequencing so that transfers feel like experiences rather than logistics.
How to do it well
The counsel our advisors give travelers planning this journey:
- Book the buffalo-mozzarella dairy visit at least six weeks in advance — working dairies on the Piana del Sele receive very few private groups and the curd-pulling window closes by mid-morning.
- Plan your journey for late May through June or the first half of September; August brings extreme congestion on the SS163 and ferries, which compromises the unhurried pace this itinerary requires.
