When to go
May through September, when long golden evenings, warm seas and the Balearics at their finest reward those who travel in the light. Your advisor times it to the light, the crowds and your own calendar.
The experiences
A sense of what this journey can hold — each one arranged privately and shaped to you:
- A private market tour of Santa Gertrudis on Saturday morning, followed by a chef's tasting lunch prepared in the villa kitchen from the morning's haul — charcuterie, local cheeses, and just-caught fish.
- An exclusive half-day charter on a wooden llaüt, guided by your captain to a succession of north-coast calas inaccessible by land, with snorkelling gear and a cold lunch packed aboard.
- A bespoke ceramics session with an Ibizan artisan in the hills above Sant Joan de Labritja, arranged privately for the villa party.
- An evening drive to Café del Mar in Sant Antoni for sunset, returning north through the pine interior to a candlelit dinner on the villa terrace — the two faces of the island in a single evening.
A sense of the rhythm
Days here have no fixed schedule — the captain checks the sea state each morning and the chef adjusts to whoever slept late. By midweek most guests have entirely abandoned their phones, which is exactly the point.
Whether to take a villa with a private pool on the north coast or an agrotourismo-style property further inland
The north-coast villa places you within ten minutes of the best calas and gives your captain a natural base — the morning's cala swim and the evening's terrace dinner are genuinely integrated into a single day. An inland agrotourismo trades sea proximity for deeper countryside quiet and cooler nights, which suits some parties very well. The practical question is whether your group's primary pleasure is the water or the landscape. We counsel most villa clients toward the coast for a seven-night stay, because the sea access is the hardest thing to replicate and the pine hills are always a short drive away.
How to do it well
The counsel our advisors give travelers planning this journey:
- Secure your preferred villa for July and August no later than January of the same year — the best north-coast estates with serious chef infrastructure go off-market in early winter.
- Brief your chef before arrival: Santa Gertrudis market runs every Saturday, so a mid-week start lets you hit it on day two rather than day seven.
- Ask us to arrange a full-day private boat at the start of the stay, not mid-trip — north winds (tramontana) can arrive with two days' notice in May and late September and close the best anchorages.
- If your group includes children, request a villa with direct road access to the beach rather than cliff steps — several spectacular properties on the north coast are not practical for under-tens.
What only your advisor can open
The difference between a good trip and an unrepeatable one is access — and access is a relationship, not a booking. Every guide, room and moment is chosen and sequenced for you.
Who it's for
Travelers who value privacy, time and doing it once — beautifully — and who would rather have one trusted advisor orchestrate every detail than assemble it themselves.
Estimated investment
From US$12,500 per traveler, based on double occupancy — scaled to your dates, party size and level of privacy. A starting point, not a final quote; confirmed once your advisor tailors the itinerary.
