After eight years of meticulous restoration, Manhattan’s most legendary hotel is back. The Waldorf Astoria New York has reopened, ushering in a new era of luxury hospitality.
Conrad Hilton once called it “The Greatest of Them All.” Since 1931, the hotel has embodied that promise—and now, it’s been elevated even further.
Closed in 2017 for extensive renovations, the wait is over. This reopening marks one of New York’s most significant hospitality events in decades.
A New York Icon, Transformed
Skidmore, Owings & Merrill led the restoration, while Pierre-Yves Rochon designed the interiors. Jean-Louis Deniot handled the residential spaces above.

Previously offering 1,400 rooms, the hotel now features 375 spacious accommodations—each over 570 square feet. Landmark interiors spanning 62,000 square feet were preserved, and beloved 19th-century murals restored. The iconic Waldorf Astoria Clock is once again in Peacock Alley.
Dining on Park Avenue
Three dining venues define the new culinary experience. Lex Yard, led by Chef Michael Anthony, anchors the corner of Lexington and 50th Street. Peacock Alley, fully restored, remains the hotel’s social heart. Yoshoku introduces an intimate Japanese concept.
Lex Yard, a two-story brasserie, channels the energy of New York, with seasonal dishes and refined technique. At Peacock Alley, guests still gather by the historic clock, accompanied by Cole Porter’s restored Steinway piano.
Modern Comfort, Historic Elegance
Guest rooms feel like private Manhattan apartments, with distinct areas for living, working, and sleeping. Marble bathrooms feature walk-in showers and dressing spaces. Custom furniture, bespoke bars, and premium finishes elevate every stay.
A signature scent—“301 Park Avenue” by Fueguia 1833—gently infuses the hotel.
Private Residences Above
The tower holds 372 residences, from studios to four-bedroom penthouses. Designed by Jean-Louis Deniot, these homes offer 50,000 square feet of amenities and sweeping city views. Residents have private access and priority hotel services. An art collection curated by Simon de Pury adds to the elegance.
