Luxury India Travel Guide — Where to Go, When, and What It Starts From
Palaces and tigers, the Himalaya and the backwaters — how to choose your India, when to go, and what a bespoke journey starts from.
- The best time to visit most of India is October to March — dry, comfortable and ideal for Rajasthan and the Golden Triangle.
- First-timers do best with the Golden Triangle (Delhi, Agra, Jaipur) plus Rajasthan's palaces; returning travelers add Kerala, the Himalaya or tiger parks.
- Ten to fourteen days lets India unfold; seven to ten covers a focused region without rushing.
- Tiger safaris run roughly October to June (best March–May); Kerala and the south suit the winter months.
- As an indicative guide, a bespoke India journey starts from around US$1,200 per person per day — the final cost depends on the route, palaces and private guiding.
- We design the route, pace and seasonal timing around your interests — culture, wildlife or wellness.
Which India?
India is many journeys. The Golden Triangle (Delhi, Agra, Jaipur) and the palaces of Rajasthan are the classic first journey. Kerala brings backwaters, beaches and Ayurveda; the Himalaya (Ladakh, the foothills) brings mountains and monasteries; and the national parks bring tiger safaris. The finest trips pair two of these.
When to go
For most of India, October to March is ideal — dry and comfortable, perfect for Rajasthan and the Golden Triangle. The summer monsoon (roughly June–September) is hot and wet across much of the country, though the high Himalaya is at its best then. Tiger sightings peak in the hotter pre-monsoon months (March–May). We time it to your route.
How long, and how to combine
Ten to fourteen days lets India unfold — the Golden Triangle and Rajasthan, perhaps with a tiger park or Kerala finale. Seven to ten days covers a focused region beautifully. India rewards an unhurried pace and the right private guiding.
Why India rewards an advisor
India is extraordinary and complex — the finest palace hotels, expert private guides, after-hours monument access, seamless internal flights and the right pace turn it from overwhelming to sublime. The access and curation are everything.
What a luxury India journey starts from
As a luxury advisory we quote a from-price, not a final one. Indicatively, a bespoke journey starts from around US$1,200 per person per day, rising with the finest palace hotels, private guiding throughout, tiger safaris and private aviation. The real figure depends on the route and how privately you travel — we share the starting point candidly and design the rest around you.
