Karnak, Luxor Temple and the Valley of the Kings, opened privately.
Egypt is the rare place where five thousand years of history can still be walked in private — but only relationships open the doors an online ticket never will.
When to go
October to April, when the desert heat eases and the temples show their best light; December–February is peak. Your advisor times it to the light, the crowds and your own calendar.
The experiences
A sense of what this journey can hold — each one arranged privately and shaped to you:
- An early passage through Karnak's great hall of columns before the day's first coaches arrive.
- A privately guided descent into the tombs of the Valley of the Kings, chosen for their painted walls.
- A quiet evening at Luxor Temple as the floodlights lift the colonnade from the dark.
- A private crossing of the river to the west bank, temples and tombs unfolding in sequence.
A sense of the rhythm
Luxor divides naturally into two banks and two moods. Mornings belong to the west bank, the tombs and mortuary temples reached before the heat; late afternoons and evenings return to the east and its living temples. The river between them sets a calm, deliberate rhythm.
How many tombs to open
The Valley of the Kings rewards depth over breadth; three or four well-chosen tombs, unhurried, tell more than a hurried dozen. Adding the tombs of Nefertari or Seti I, by separate ticket, lifts the day into something rare. Your Egyptologist will choose for the quality of the paint.
How to do it well
The counsel our advisors give travelers planning this journey:
- Reach the west bank at opening; the tombs are cooler and quieter in the first hour.
- The tombs of Nefertari and Seti I carry separate, limited tickets worth securing ahead.
- The finest luxury hotels sit on the east bank with the temples close at hand.
- Save Luxor Temple for after dark, when the lighting transforms it entirely.
What only your advisor can open
The difference between a good trip and an unrepeatable one is access — and access is a relationship, not a booking. Every guide, room and moment is chosen and sequenced for you.
Who it's for
Travelers who value privacy, time and doing it once — beautifully — and who would rather have one trusted advisor orchestrate every detail than assemble it themselves.
Estimated investment
From US$7,400 per traveler, based on double occupancy — scaled to your dates, party size and level of privacy. A starting point, not a final quote; confirmed once your advisor tailors the itinerary.
Designed entirely around you
Nothing here is a package. A Forest Travel advisor shapes the whole journey and stays one message away before and throughout your trip.
