Hilltop vineyards, lavender hills and the slow island table.
Two coastlines of walled cities, wine-terraced islands and hidden coves, all close enough to weave into a single seamless journey by water.
When to go
Late May through September, when the Adriatic is warm, the light is long and the islands are at their most alive before the autumn quiet returns. Your advisor times it to the light, the crowds and your own calendar.
The experiences
A sense of what this journey can hold — each one arranged privately and shaped to you:
- Taste the island's Plavac Mali with the grower among the stone-terraced vines.
- Walk the lavender hills of the interior when the fields are in full purple.
- Sit down to a long island table of just-caught fish, olive oil and local wine.
- Visit a family press to follow the olive from grove to green oil.
A sense of the rhythm
Away from the harbour, Hvar slows to the pace of the growing season. Mornings are for the hills, the vines climbing their old stone terraces and the lavender stretching toward the sea; the middle of the day belongs to a long, shaded table. Late afternoons ease back toward the water for a swim before an unhurried island dinner.
Hvar town or the quiet interior?
Hvar town keeps you close to the waterfront and its evening buzz, lively and social. A base among the vineyards and hill villages trades that for stillness, cellar visits at the door and the scent of lavender on the breeze. For this slower, table-led journey, we usually favour the interior and its calm.
How to do it well
The counsel our advisors give travelers planning this journey:
- Come in June or early July for the lavender at its fullest.
- Taste with the growers themselves; the island's best wines rarely leave it.
- Keep afternoons free for the sea; the coves are close even from the hills.
- Ask us to arrange a private table at a family konoba away from the harbour.
What only your advisor can open
The difference between a good trip and an unrepeatable one is access — and access is a relationship, not a booking. Every guide, room and moment is chosen and sequenced for you.
Who it's for
Travelers who value privacy, time and doing it once — beautifully — and who would rather have one trusted advisor orchestrate every detail than assemble it themselves.
Estimated investment
From US$8,500 per traveler, based on double occupancy — scaled to your dates, party size and level of privacy. A starting point, not a final quote; confirmed once your advisor tailors the itinerary.
Designed entirely around you
Nothing here is a package. A Forest Travel advisor shapes the whole journey and stays one message away before and throughout your trip.
Your Virtuoso privileges
As a Virtuoso member, Forest Travel includes benefits reserved for Virtuoso guests at the finest luxury hotels, at no added cost: a room upgrade on arrival when available, daily breakfast for two, a property credit toward dining or spa, and early check-in with late check-out when the hotel allows.
